At the McMaster Ancient DNA Centre, Novak learned the process of DNA extraction as well as properly sequencing Mastodon fossils. WebA company called ‘Revive & Restore’ in 2012 initiated a project called the ‘Great Passenger Pigeon Comeback’. By 2025, it aims to release a new generation of Passenger Pigeons. The project involves three phases; 1) Genome research: obtaining DNA from Passenger Pigeon specimens, along with Band-tailed Pigeon; Patagioenas fasciata.
